Cowon D2 accessories

A range of accessories that aren't branded for the player, and that you normally wouldn't think of, but that are useful nonetheless.

Resistor adapter

This is a DIY accessory, that will fix some of the D2's problems with low impendance headphones. RMAA tests have shown that the D2 lacks a bit of bass when it is paired with low impendance phones, and what this adapter does is simply up the impendance. A A/B test i did with two D2's playing the same song with the same settings but with/without this adapter proved it's value, and it's definately worth the time spent to make one.

You need:
2 resistors, preferably 150 ohms or so.
Female 3.5mm jack
Male 3.5mm jack

Simply make a extension cable that has a resistor on both the left and the right channel (nothing on ground), and thats it. Fairly simple job, where most lies in the design. This is my 3rd and 4th version, the first ones were big and not pocket friendly, version 4 uses the same connection method as the wireless transmitter and fits perfectly:

Logitech Wireless Music System

This thing is fairly unknown, pretty cheap, and works great - if you only have decent speakers like me, and nothign hifi-ish. The Logitech Wireless Music System for iPod isn't really for iPod only, as it uses a standard, ADJUSTABLE 3.5mm jack. It also happens to be almost exactly as wide as the D2 is high. It uses some weird bluetooth profile to transmit audio wirelessly, and it works great for lower end systems, people like me who use PC speakers. There is one slight problem, it isnt very steady as it only connects on the 3.5mm jack and tend to spin around that point. There is a rather simple solution though: Find a spare mini USB B cable, and remove all the insulation around the plug itself. Work your way inwards and ply out the plate with the pins on it, it comes out if you wiggle it for a while. You should be left with a metal shell of the plug. Form and glue the end that doesn't go into the D2's USB port so it fits into the transmitter, and glue it in place (you can extrapolate what i mean from the pics. Voila, a D2-perfect transmitter. I also added black electrical tape to make the color fit better.

FM transmitter

You prob know the deal with my "special" D2 connector by now, this is the same. One of these and a little modding to make it less wire dependent and more D2 friendly.
